It's past my bed time but...

ItalicIt has been 1 month & 3 days since I moved to Victoria. I can't believe how fast the time has passed, also I can't believe just how well I have managed to cope! After struggling through the first two weeks, I have seemed to have relaxed and eased into life here.

Whilst I certainly do miss the familiarity of my old home and my old job, I am feeling more at home with each day.

I have just finished my first week of work at McCafe. The staff there are great & the managers too. It certainly isn't HJ's, no place will ever house the same level of awesome people as HJ's does, BUT, I have been made to feel very welcome & I am enjoying it there. The manager says that I will hopefully learn the main front counter next week - something new to learn, sounds good to me.. I am happy to say that I can make a fairly decent cup of coffee now as opposed to the rubbish I usually serve up!

I was giggling today at the fact that during my working career, I have been employed at KFC, HJ's, Subway & McDonald's... Apart from my 5 year petrol station stint, it seems fast food has dominated my work life...

I can't help but feel somewhat disappointed though... I am 5 months shy of my 25th birthday and I am just starting an entry level position at McDonald's... Isn't exactly how I saw my life being at this age... At least I can be proud of the fact that I have had the courage to relocate and start a fresh & that I have found someone whom I plan to spend my life with. I am getting married... that is pretty impressive. I am proud of myself. I will do well in this job and it has the potential to lead me somewhere exciting... I guess I just have to wait and see!

I am excited to hear that my Mum is coming to visit me! We will be spending two days together in December doing some catching up mixed in with some wedding dress shopping in Melbourne! December will be a full on month this year... as well as the given Christmas celebrations, there is also a few days in Adelaide planned as well as Anthony's 22nd Birthday and Chloe's 11th Birthday... Busy, busy, busy!

The rain here has been pretty constant over the past few days, I came home from work yesterday to be greeted by a flooded entrance to my room! So after some brief paddling in some freezing cold water, I managed to get to safety! I am just amazed at how constant the flow of rain was during the course of the day and night, not once did it stop raining for all of Friday... bizarre!

Finally, it was good to talk to my dear Victoria tonight, I do enjoy our weekly chats...I miss everyone in SA dearly, so it is always good to find out what has been going on with everyone!

Well, as I have now turned into a granny thanks to the 5.30am starts all week, I am way passed my bed time! Will keep you posted with all the happenings over the next couple of weeks!

FYI: The photo is of me and Charlie.. or Charles as I like to call him... playful and slightly crazy, he is a charming young man :-D

12 days a Victorian...

12 days ago, Anthony and I moved to Victoria.. Although the idea was mine, I found myself having last minute freak-out sessions before we hopped in the car and made our 1200km journey.. You know that impulsive feeling when you have an idea, which seems bold and exciting and you feel really motivated and then when it comes time to actually do it, you back down? Well that is what I have pretty much done my whole life.. I make choices and then don't commit...I had never completed anything... Until now :-)

Thank goodness that Anthony is a chilled out spirit who doesn't take things to heart too much..with me being an obsessive compulsive control freak who over analysis everything and everyone and can never just except how things are... The ever worrying worry wart... Thank goodness for Ant. Anthony has been my rock, he has put up with my sudden mood changes, my constant crying and my psycho fits ever since we got here and I am starting to see that life isn't that bad... there is always a solution, some times we just have to be patient...

Anywhoddles.... So I guess if you have been following on facebook, it's been 12 days of job hunting constantly...I have been pretty pleased so far that I have had interviews etc...Just took a job working at Subway, but still waiting to here back from another place I interviewed at, so right now, not really sure where ill be working just yet... Ants has an interview at Woolies next week so I have my fingers, arms, toes and knees crossed for him :-)

The original plan was to save like crazy then bugger off the the big smoke that is Melbourne, but on second thoughts, if things go well for us job wise, we are thinking about getting a place here for a few years and seeing how it goes... I had the "Omg, I'm 24 and doing nothing with my career" freak-out today... So fingers crossed some fool hires me and makes me CEO one day :P

So just a bit more boring stuff to add.. my car got registered in Vic today, so now I won't feel like all the other drivers on the road are muttering "Bloody South Australian Drivers!" under their breath....or out loud...at me! And I have my shiny new Vic licence coming in the mail... It's all becoming very official!

Missing my family and friends though.. hope my big brother is doing ok... He has Monique to look after him (and keep him in line :P) It's been good here so far though, Ants family is fair awesome, made me feel right at home and they laugh at my cheesy jokes - win! :D But being serious, I think this move would have been much harder without Ants family being here...I can see myself being very happy here...
